ABOUt LAURIEANN GIBSON

Creative Director/Choreographer, LaurieAnn Gibson, is a force to be reckoned with, building an impressive career, featuring work with top names such as Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Diddy, Nicki Minaj, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, and Beyoncé. Gibson’s unique brand of blending traditional artist development with movement and dance training and a unique creative eye has made her one of the most sought-after creative directors and choreographers working in the music industry today. 

She was the creative visionary, director and choreographer behind Lady Gaga’s “The Fame Monster World Tour 2010” and received a 2011 Creative Emmy nomination for directing the HBO special taped at Madison Square Garden in New York City. 

Gibson continues to work with today’s rising and established musical stars as artist developer, video director, creative director and choreographer.

ABOUt THE WILLIE DUNN AWARD

The Willie Dunn Award is presented to a Canadian trailblazer who has demonstrated excellence within the music video production community. The recipient of this award is asked to select an emerging filmmaker to be the beneficiary of $5,000 courtesy of the Canadian Academy.

The Willie Dunn Award’s mandate is to encourage the professional development of diverse creators within the Canadian music video industry.

ABOUT WILLIE DUNN

William "Willie" Dunn was a Montreal-born singer-songwriter, film director and politician, who drew on his Mi’kmaq/Scottish heritage to craft protest songs about the Indigenous experience. Dunn’s 10-minute film for The Ballad of Crowfoot is often cited as “the first Canadian music video.”
